Fixed / Removable Braces

Fixed braces: This is the most traditional type of brace "train tracks", where they are permanently cemented to the teeth for the full duration of treatment. Fixed braces can be metal, clear (ceramic) and lingual. Lingual braces are placed behind the teeth so they are not visible.

Removable braces: These appliances can be removed from the patient's mouth. They come in the form of invisible plastic trays. There are also removable "functional appliances", which are generally used for children's orthodontic treatment. A removable brace or appliance should be worn at all times and only taken out for eating and cleaning.
