More than just a smile
Here at Sheen Dental in Richmond, we offer far more than your average dental practice. It is our belief, here at Sheen Dental, that each patient is unique. As such, each patient carries with them an entirely new set of needs, wishes and obstacles and it is our duty to help them overcome their dental journey. It is this philosophy which places our practice as a cut above the rest. All too often, up and down the county, an increasing number of practices are simply adopting the ‘path of least resistance’ approach to dentistry, which clinically divides the line between patient and practitioner with sterilised accuracy. At Sheen Dental however, we make it our business to get to know each of our patient's personally, and connect with them on a human level.
A hole lot of problems
One of the most popular methods of cosmetic dentistry which we offer here at Sheen Dental in Richmond, is the installation of dental implants. These are a form of treatment which is only generally called upon in cases where a patient's tooth, or teeth, have been irreversibly damaged, or lost entirely. Implants provide a prosthetic cure to gaps within a patient's mouth. It is estimated that a staggering 27 million adults across the country live with one or more untreated, missing teeth. Whilst many of these people may find the ‘grin and bear it’ strategy to work, they are perhaps not fully informed of the large amount of seriously detrimental health implications that having an untreated missing tooth can cause. One such effect is the bone tissue around the affected tooth (or teeth) becoming reabsorbed by the patient's body - which often results in the patient appearing far older than their years. Another negative effect of having an untreated missing tooth is the loss of speech, which can have a knock-on effect on a patient's self-esteem and confidence.
Bridging the gaps
Luckily, here at Sheen Dental in Richmond, we provide a solution which results in a full restoration of a patient's smile which is sturdy enough to endure for years. This is done through the installation of titanium dental implants, which initially would consist of a consultation period, to establish if a patient is eligible, and explain to them the details of the process. Thereafter, providing the patient wishes to carry on with the procedure, then the installation will begin. This initially consists of a small hole being drilled within the space where their missing tooth or teeth ought to be. Then a titanium-alloy socket is inserted and left to fuse. Titanium is used for its unique ability to fuse itself inside human bone tissue, and after a brief healing period in which this fusion happens, a replica tooth is then placed within the socket. Therefore, the space within the patient's mouth is bridged with an indistinguishable, sturdy new tooth which is far stronger and more durable than conventional dentures or crowns as it is fused in a way similar to natural teeth.
