Straightening by stealth

Let’s face it, none of us ever really wants to admit to our physical imperfections. We dye our hair, wear high heels, and spend a fortune on make-up and creams in an effort to present a picture of perfection to the world. Yes, even you men do some of these things. So, it’s hardly surprising that not many adults are willing to go through months of wearing cumbersome and unattractive metal braces that advertise that their teeth are so imperfect they’re having to get treatment, and at their age too! Thank goodness then, for straightening by stealth.

Invisalign in SW14

Invisalign for modern teeth straightening

In SW14, Invisalign is hugely popular with adults who want to keep their treatment under wraps. Available from your trusty team at Sheen Dental in SW14, Invisalign is nothing like traditional metal braces. They’re not made of metal and they’re not braces. That’s how different they are. They do, however, do a fantastic job at discreetly straightening mildly to moderately misaligned teeth, which is what most of us have.

Instead of metal, you can expect to have incredibly thin, 0.3 millimetre, rigid, plastic. Instead of brackets and wires, you will wear aligners, which resemble mouth guards that snap into place over your teeth and disappear from view.

You get a series of these aligners, somewhere between 12–48, depending on your misalignment issues, and you wear one after the other, each for about two weeks. They will press on your teeth in strange ways, and so gently shift them until they line up beautifully. On average, this takes a year to achieve.

That might seem like a life sentence, until you realise that the other great thing about Invisalign in SW14 is that the aligners are removable. You snap them out, eat your food, or drink your drink, brush your teeth and then snap the aligners right back in again. As you long as you have them on for at least 20 hours a day, you can do what you like with the other four, including eating foods that would probably have been banned with bracket and wire braces.

So why not pop in to Sheen Dental and find out if Invisalign is the right system to do your stealth straightening?
